GDRFA Fine Check — How to Find and Pay UAE Visa Fines
Visit gdrfad.gov.ae for Dubai residents, or icp.gov.ae for all other emirates. Enter your file number or passport details to see all outstanding fines. Overstay fines are AED 50 per day (visit visa) or AED 25 per day (residence visa after grace period). Pay online via credit card or at any GDRFA service centre — outstanding fines block exit, entry, and visa renewal.
GDRFA (General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs) issues fines for visa overstays, sponsorship violations, and immigration breaches. Fines accrue daily and must be cleared before exit or visa renewal. You can check outstanding amounts on the GDRFA Dubai portal or the federal ICP system.

How to do it — step by step
- 1
Pick the right portal
Dubai-issued visas: use gdrfad.gov.ae. All other emirates and federal visas: use icp.gov.ae. Many residents have fines on both systems if they've moved between emirates.
- 2
Open the fines enquiry page
On GDRFA Dubai, choose 'Services' → 'Fines Enquiry & Payment'. On ICP, choose 'Public Services' → 'Inquiries' → 'Violations'.
- 3
Enter your identifier
Use your unified file number (preferred), or passport number plus nationality. Residence visa holders can also use their Emirates ID.
- 4
Review fine details
The system lists each fine with date, type, and amount. Overstay fines show the per-day rate and accrual period.
- 5
Pay online
Credit and debit card payment is supported. A receipt is emailed immediately and the fine is cleared in real time. Keep the receipt for visa renewal or exit.
Key terms explained
Overstay fine
Daily penalty for staying beyond visa expiry — AED 50/day for visit visas, AED 25/day for residence visas after the 30-day grace period.
Grace period
30 days after residence visa expiry or cancellation during which no overstay fine applies. Visit visas have no grace period.
Unified file number
Your single immigration file ID across all UAE federal systems. Format: 101/YYYY/XXXXXXX.
Absconding report
Filed by sponsors when an employee or dependent disappears. Triggers a labour ban and immigration penalties — must be lifted before any new visa can be issued.
Common problems & fixes
Fines appear on GDRFA but not ICP (or vice versa)
Each emirate has its own system. Always check both portals if you've held visas in multiple emirates. Federal fines (e.g. airport overstay) appear only on ICP.
Paid the fine but it still shows outstanding
Allow 24 hours for systems to sync. If still pending after 48 hours, email the receipt to enquiry@gdrfad.gov.ae or visit any Amer centre with the transaction reference.
Can't exit UAE due to a fine you didn't know about
Most airports have GDRFA/ICP counters in departures where you can settle on the spot. Allow an extra 60 minutes.
Fine appears under wrong name or wrong person
File a dispute via the GDRFA portal under 'Object to a Fine'. You'll need supporting documents (boarding passes, exit/entry stamps). Resolution typically takes 5–10 working days.
