MOHRE Enquiry — Check UAE Labour Card, Contract & Complaints
Visit mohre.gov.ae or use the MOHRE app to run an enquiry. Most enquiries — labour card status, contract details, work permit validity — only require your Emirates ID or unified number. MOHRE rules apply to mainland and most free zone employees; ADGM and DIFC are governed separately. Standard response time for complaints is 2 working days for the initial review.
MOHRE (Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation) is the UAE federal labour authority for mainland employment. Through its website and app you can verify a labour card, view your registered employment contract, track work permit status, and submit or follow up complaints against an employer.

How to do it — step by step
- 1
Open the MOHRE enquiry page
Go to mohre.gov.ae and select the language. Click 'Services' → 'Enquiries' for the public enquiry menu.
- 2
Pick the enquiry type
Common options: 'Work Permit Status', 'Labour Card Validity', 'Employment Contract Details', 'Complaint Status'. Each takes a different identifier.
- 3
Enter your details
Most enquiries accept your Emirates ID, unified number, or work-permit transaction number. Some require entering the establishment (employer) number.
- 4
Verify with captcha
Public enquiries are throttled. Solve the captcha to retrieve the result. No login is needed for basic checks.
- 5
Download or screenshot the result
MOHRE doesn't archive enquiry results by default. Save a PDF or screenshot for your records, particularly for offer letters and contract verifications.
Key terms explained
Labour card
The physical or digital record of your employment in the UAE mainland. Required for residence visa stamping and proof of legal employment.
Work permit
MOHRE approval for an employer to hire you. Issued before the visa stamping process begins.
Establishment card
Your employer's MOHRE registration. The establishment number identifies them across all labour transactions.
Unified number
The federal identity number that links MOHRE, ICP, GDRFA, and Emirates ID records to the same person.
Common problems & fixes
Work permit shows 'Cancelled' but you're still employed
This usually means the employer cancelled the previous permit before the new one was activated. Contact MOHRE on 800 60 immediately — working without a valid permit can trigger fines.
Contract details don't match the signed offer
File a 'Labour Complaint' via MOHRE. The signed offer letter and contract are legally binding; MOHRE arbitrates within 14 working days.
Complaint marked 'Closed' without resolution
Request escalation to the Labour Court via the same MOHRE portal. Closed status only means the initial mediation phase ended — escalation triggers formal proceedings.
Can't find labour card in the app
Confirm the employer is mainland-licensed. Free zone employees (other than those using MOHRE-linked zones) won't have a labour card — check the free zone's own portal.
